June wallpaper!

Hey, we’re halfway through the year already! How did that happen?!

Also, did you know that every full moon has a corresponding name and that the one that happens in June is called the Strawberry Moon? Neither did I until recently, but I like it. In some places the full moon is June is known as the Rose Moon instead but I thought that strawberries would make a better wallpaper, so Strawberry Moon it is.

P.S. These strawberry illustrations are in the public domain and they come from a book called “Biggle Berry Book” from 1899!

Hey, May!

It’s May! I thought I wasn’t going to go all floral with my wallpapers this year, but I can’t help it this time because the flowers are starting to come out here and I’m pretty excited about it. I also couldn’t help myself with the pink flowers because this is around the time of year where the cherry blossom trees come out in full force in High Park, and just like every other person with a camera in the city, I’ll probably be there taking photos before they all come down. That, and taking photos of the people taking photos because that’s also a thing I like to do. ;D

Enjoy!

It’s April wallpaper time!

Happy (Easter) Monday! It’s a new month, which of course means it’s new wallpaper time. My aim this year was to get every wallpaper out on the 1st of the month, or if that fell on a weekend, the first Monday of the month, but sometimes life and/or client work gets in the way of even the best intentions! At least I didn’t prank you on April Fool’s Day again. ;D

And if you want last April’s wallpaper instead, you can get it here.

Happy March! Let’s celebrate with a new wallpaper.

Hey, friend! Are you as happy about it being March as I am? If you live in a place with cold weather like I do, I’m guessing your answer is yes.

February started out great for me, but then it abruptly turned around. I started the month off with a week in Florida visiting my parents who are there this winter, and it exactly what you’d expect: warm, sunny, and relaxing. Then I came back to Toronto, where we experienced our coldest month in recorded history, and I and promptly got sick and stayed sick for almost the whole month.
Thanks, winter! <3 <3 <3

As for this month’s wallpaper, I departed from my usual theme of botanical goodness and ventured into (stylized) space instead. I’m sure you can easily make the March-Mars connection, especially if you speak French and/or know that both the month and the planet are named after the same Roman god. I’m enjoying this second year of monthly wallpaper making because it’s a great opportunity to branch out into different styles that I didn’t try the first time around. Speaking of which, if you’d like to check out my first March wallpaper, you can do so here.

Happy almost spring!

It’s February! Time for a new wallpaper!

Hi! Can you believe that January is already over and we’re already one month into 2015?! I’ve just about stopped writing 2014 on cheques and forms now, so that’s something.

I find this time if the year to be even more interesting than early January in some ways, because all the new year’s excitement has settled down and most of us are back into our usual routines. And now that we’re back in the swing of things, how does the day-to-day in 2015 differ from last year?

As for me, I’m definitely operating a little differently this year than I did last year. For one, I’m investing much more time and energy back into my business than I did last year (where I mostly focused on client work alone). I recently enrolled in Digital Strategy School (which has been great so far!) and just I took a fantastic web content writing workshop at Camp Tech this past weekend, which was super eye-opening and will probably lead to a full overhaul of my entire website. No big deal.

I’ve also been sticking to my one small new year’s resolution — to go outside and walk every single day. I made my one resolution super manageable, and lo and behold, I’ve actually stuck to it. Those of you who commute to a work space or live in a warm climate might think that it’s weird/sad to have to force yourself outside, but when you work from home and live in a place where winter is the worst, it’s not exactly enticing. However, I really believe that you can only be successful in your work and in helping other people if you take care of yourself, so that’s what I’m doing!

Oh, wait, were you here for the wallpapers?

Okay, okay, here they are!
